Interesting article. Answer: depends on the friend. If you know it’s a nice person and won’t mind, go right ahead because nice people don’t mind. I always invite people in my home and at my office to make themselves at home and if they use something up, just let me know and I will buy more.
The reality is, I want people to be happy and not worry. A good friend gives love, kindness, caring and compassion, so what’s some coffee? Even a pot full, I don’t mind.
I think we all know the unkind person, the grouchy person, the person that is not flexible and has to have everything just right.
This was a question about coffee in an office so you must know the type of person you were dealing with. Not sure? then skip the coffee borrowing with that one. Who needs a complainer?
My question is, why not text and ask first? No harm in that. Promise to make it up with interest.
Even if the person is nice, be sure to replace the coffee with the same or better before she or he returns to the office and leave a note.
Otherwise, water is always better than ire.
